Terrazzo describes a form of decor that has been known since ancient times and is mainly used in the design of floor surfaces. For centuries, terrazzo was only found in palaces and churches in Central Europe. Over the penultimate century, this form of design was also discovered by the bourgeoisie and is now part of the design of many everyday objects, including earthenware such as vases. Anyone who appreciates the design of the terrazzo alone will find it in series production on bowls, vases and other decorative objects offered in specialist shops. In this case, there is no laborious production of the terrazzo in the manner described above, rather prefabricated patterns are applied as glaze, usually by machine in the 21st century.
