aesthetics A like alpine flowers The term aesthetics in its original sense refers to a philosophical discipline that deals with the perception of the environment by humans, in everyday language, however, the word is used for the perception of beauty and harmony. The aim of aesthetics is to find out what is objectively perceived as beautiful by observing human perception and to derive therefrom subjective criteria for the beauty of people or objects. Aesthetics is also a leading concept in design and visual arts, with many artists consciously breaking through the principles of known aesthetics, thus creating their own forms of beauty or deliberate ugliness. Basically, it is not possible to describe a form or color as aesthetic, even the delimitation of objects with each other as more or less aesthetically succeeds only with difficulty and is always subject to a subjective perception. However, a larger number of people perceive humans, plants or artificial objects as aesthetic if they have harmonies and symmetries in the design. On this basis, natural aesthetics has a special role to play, as flowers and many other plants are based in their development on principles such as self-similarity and thus leave an aesthetic impression on many people.
