The daffodil is a common in Germany and Central Europe spring flower, which is botanically a daffodil. Especially popular is the daffodil because of its bright yellow color, which also gives it the epithet yellow daffodil and so not alone on their flowering time around the Easter days refers around, since already from the early March to expect the flowering of this plant. The daffodil is highly poisonous and although this property is not a feature of the plant kingdom, it has more than any other flowering plant with its great popularity about this property. Osterglocken can be up to 40 centimeters in size and are planted in this country with preference as hybrid plants, which not only sprout earlier from the ground, but also can withstand the cold outdoor conditions even better. The trade in daffodils is now widely practiced and is on the order of magnitude of tulips or roses, with the yellow daffodil dominating the flower trade in spring more than other flowers. Just a few decades ago, the daffodil was used as a medicinal plant to work as an emetic or to relieve colds. However, according to current research, this function should better be avoided, as the toxic effect of the plant is already too strong even at moderate doses.
