The band scissors is a tool for professional florists and private flower lovers, with which the decoration of bouquets, wreaths and arrangements is to be simplified by decorative ribbons. The band scissors is preferable to the use of a classical budget scissors, as this does not cut sharply enough when separating the tape from a larger roll of tape and can cause a fraying of the tape ends. In the professional environment, therefore, special knives are used for this step, which are usually attached to tape dispensers and make it possible to tear off the desired length of decorative tape. In addition to the cutting and the ruffling of the tape on the cutting surface of a band scissors is possible, which brings to the ornament of bouquets or containers a popular visual effect with it. In order to achieve this effect, the band should be kept taut with its entire length and so quickly pulled over the correspondingly prepared cutting surface of the band shears. If this is done consistently in one direction, part of the fabric of a ribbon is broken up so that the entire ribbon structure contracts in a donut shape. This effect can also be achieved with a pair of household scissors when working with precision, but for an aesthetically demanding, fast and safe way of processing tapes, the band shears are always preferable.
