lip flowers L as labeling machine Lips are a collective name for flowers of different genera, all of which are distinguished by the particular shape of their inflorescence. They get their name from the striking flower shape, which come as a single petals in a thin and elongated shape and thus look similar to a human optic lip. Lip flowers are very popular in floristics because of this striking shape and are used to round bouquets that consist of rather firm and round inflorescences inside. In addition to their attractive appearance, many types of lip flowers contain essential oils, which creates a distinctive aroma during their lifetime and also makes it possible to use this plant industrially. The most well-known lip flowers, which are still to be found today in Germany and Europe in the free nature, are the bearded flower, the germander as well as the teak tree as a donor of the wood of the same name. Thyme and lavender are also known as mint family and are better known for their distinctive aroma than their aesthetic appearance. With their variety of genera and species, lip flowers are more or less suitable for floristic use, but in some cases, selective breeding for the floristic environment takes place without any additional benefit from the plant's essential oils. Due to the large variety of species, it is difficult to give generally valid tips for the care of these flowers.
