Erika is a very common plant in this country, which is also known as heather and produces flowers in different colors depending on the species. The home of the heather and other heather plants is actually southern Africa, European variants also present themselves as sun-hungry and therefore only bloom in the summer and autumn months. The red Erika, like other color variants, is used in funeral floristry and is ideal as a classic cemetery plant due to its compact and spatially small growth. Like pansies or forget-me-nots, the heather is one of the most important plants with which the planting person can symbolically express the close connection to the deceased, whose memory he will always share. The red Erika is therefore particularly suitable for the surviving widower or widow, since the red coloring, like many other flowers, symbolizes the love between the two people. For friends or acquaintances, therefore, the Erika should not be planted in red, but in other colors such as white or pink.
