The harvest wreath is a piece of jewelry to be found in Germany and other countries in Central Europe, which is braided and worn as customs at the end of the field work every year. The creation of the harvest wreath is still common today in rural regions and is made wherever grain such as wheat or rye is sown and harvested. The harvest wreath is made from the last mown honor at the end of the actual harvest and thus symbolizes the end of this working time, which ideally turned out to be particularly productive for the farmer. The harvest wreath is also in the Christian tradition and is placed on the sacrificial and gift table, for example, at Thanksgiving, with which God is to be thanked for this year's harvest. Already in the Old Testament, the tradition of giving part of the harvest to the Lord as an offering and doing it in an appealing, external form is described several times. In addition to the harvest wreath, which traditionally consists only of grain, the Antlass wreath is established as a braided, additional wreath of herbs in the Christian tradition and is intended to serve as a sacrificial wreath of penance so that God forgives the sins of those who offer it. This additional harvest wreath is also tied in autumn, at the time of the penance and bed day.
