The Federal Garden Show is the largest exhibition of its kind in Germany, which deals with the topics horticulture, landscape architecture and floristry. The garden show takes place at intervals of two years and is held in each case in another German city, which is named a few years earlier for the purpose of sufficient preparation time. Today's Federal Horticultural Show stands in a long tradition of gardeners, florists and farmers to present their respective products to a larger public, especially in recent decades, new breeding successes and unknown plant and flower species should attract the attention of visitors to the fair. In this way, the Federal Garden Show and its historical predecessors became one of the most important opportunities for private individuals to get acquainted with the diversity of modern botany, since professional horticulture was already 100 years ago carried out primarily by private companies that did not provide a deeper insight into their diversity. The Federal Horticultural Show took place in Hamburg for the first time in 1951. The next dates of this internationally acclaimed event will be there in 2013, 2015 in the Havelland region and 2017 in Berlin. At the same time, the gardeners and florists of the individual federal states have the opportunity at regular intervals to present themselves at a regional garden show in their respective region.
