The term tiara describes a piece of jewelry that is traditionally worn for joyful events and adorns the head like a hair band or headband. The tiara was already established as a headdress in antiquity, but did not yet take on the noble and solemn note that is associated with it today. The laurel wreath, which was awarded to winners of a war or athletes, was a further development of the profane headdress from ancient Greece to a high-quality diadem. In addition to diademes by professional jewelers who incorporate gemstones of all kinds into this headdress, floristic diadems are also established, in which the aesthetic character is imparted by flowers and blossoms of all kinds. Some brides decide against the classic bridal bouquet and still do not do without the naturally decorative splendor of flowers with a floral diadem. Since the tradition of wearing diademes in Europe ended in the 1920s, old diadems are still in private hands, which are brought out for festive occasions and adorn the head of a bride in a familiar, familiar manner.
