The type of design plays an important role in the floristry and summarizes all forms that can take a bunch, bouquet or arrangement. In the preferred style of design numerous factors are involved, which play a role in the training of the florist and allow an individual approach to the respective customer requirements. Essential for the design is first the occasion for which a floral decoration is desired. Festive events such as a birthday or anniversary put the arrangement of flowers in the form of large bouquets and bouquets close, in the funeral floristry, however, wreaths are established for laying on a tomb. If the occasion for the floral decoration is clear, there are still various forms and shapes to choose from, with which an appealing floral or plant jewelry can be put together. It is especially important to pay attention to an appropriate size or the volume of the floral decoration, in order to adorn this discreetly or to create a real eye-catcher. Once these design elements have been determined, consideration must be given to the choice of flowers and suitable colors and flower shapes, with classical color theory not being added to the design style. Culturally, the design styles in floristics differ significantly, a striking example is the Japanese Ikebana.
