crepe paper
Crepe paper is the name of a particularly decorative paper variant, which is slightly thinner than conventional writing paper. The production of crepe paper is similar to ordinary paper production, however, the underlying paper webs are still compressed during the wet processing and thus obtained a ruffled character, which is also reflected optically in the distinctive structures of the paper. After drying of the paper, the described surface structure is maintained, whereby crepe paper obtains a particularly high elasticity over conventional writing paper. Crepe paper is offered in specialist stores in standard sizes for paper and is used mainly in craft supplies. The special paper is relatively easy to cut and can be separated by a simple fold also clean by tearing. Since crepe paper has a naturally less smooth structure, it is also decorative in crumpled form. In floristry, the paper, which is offered by specialist retailers in numerous color variants, is also used to line planters or nests. In doing so, it not only ensures optics that match the color of the plants, but also helps to provide permeable and perforated plant foundations with a continuous ground support. Crepe paper is also often used to create decorative ornaments, for example for Christmas or Easter, and it can also be easily cut up and glued by children's hands.
