candlestick
Candle holders are among the most important aids in setting up candles of all kinds, whereby in addition to the practical aspect also decorative and aesthetic elements play a role. Candlesticks were used in antiquity and were mainly used on walls and ceilings, using different forms of oil and similar fuels than modern pillar candles or 21st century tealights. In most cases, candle holders also took the form of a vessel in which the flammable lamp oil or other fuels were found. Through the use of wax or synthetic products as a substitute for lamp oil, the character of the candle holder has changed in recent years, but the general use is still perceived as visually appealing and practical. Modern candleholders present themselves either as single stands or as so-called candlesticks with several arms for individual candles. A candle arm usually has a tip, with which a safe setting up a wax or paraffin candle is possible, also ensures a spread of the soil that falling down wax is collected and not dripping on the table or floor. Many decorators nowadays place candlesticks and candles in their own four walls without the desire to light them, thus creating a sophisticated ambience and decorating their own rooms in an appealing way.
