The black Christmas rose is one of the special varieties, as a rule, the plant forms only white flowers, but is known for its black roots. With the designation as a Christmas rose, the religious reference of this flower is already created, in black varieties, the Christmas rose symbolizes the mourning for the deceased Savior or a dear, deceased person. In conjunction with other, more colorful flowers, the black Christmas rose can therefore be used in arrangements for a grave, but in this country is rarely encountered in this function. Somewhat more popular in this respect is the white Christmas rose, which bears the name Schneerose due to its usually pure white flower character.
