The yellow gerbera, with its full and round shape, is particularly reminiscent of the shape of the sun. In earlier centuries, the gerbera was therefore mainly associated with cheerful and positive traits. Their botanical properties have led to the fact that gerbera is increasingly used in funeral floristry and is one of the most popular, colorful grave plants in recent decades. This does not contradict their symbolic meaning, because despite the death with yellow gerbera a spark of joie de vivre is to be brought to the grave, which also ensures a positive, lively memory of the deceased. Compared to the yellow gerbera, however, the red color variant in the funeral floristry should be omitted, since these are to be regarded as red roses as a symbol of love and so at most the widower or the widow remain withheld.
