contrast
The term contrast is used in modern linguistic usage in numerous areas, in the visual and artistic context, the term is used for the demarcation of light and dark color areas. A contrast in the color or brightness can be specified between two special points of an image or other artistic object, moreover, color areas or gradients can have a more or less strong contrast. The human eye has the ability to well perceive and distinguish contrasts in brightness and color within the visible spectrum, but many optical illusions are also based on the effect of contrasts and can, for example, give the impression of non-existent colors. In the field of color theory, which is used, for example, in modern floristry, contrast also plays an important role. From experience, individual colors are perceived as particularly intense, as far as contrasting colors are in their immediate surroundings. The Florist takes advantage of this knowledge when designing bouquets and other floristic products by contrasting flowers with contrasting colors in a bouquet. All the flowers benefit from the mutual contrast and ensure that most people perceive a particularly colorful and luminous, floristic masterpiece.
