Color-non-color contrast
The color-non-color contrast is one of the most important contrasts in modern color theory, which plays a special role in floristry. This contrast is to be found when a bouquet is to be created with only two different colors, one color dominating the shape of the entire bouquet. To emphasize the effect of the chosen color even more, a subtle color accent is set with a non-color, in floristry this is usually white. With this addition, the main color is expressed even more, as it can assert itself even more strongly in contrast to the non-color white and a bouquet can appear even brighter or more harmonious. The color-non-color contrast is one of the main reasons why, in modern floristry, bouquets are rounded off with subtle, white accessories – this is the only way to increase the aesthetic value of the entire bouquet. Basically, the color-non-color effect works with every bright color and the colors white, black or gray as non-color, but the latter two are rarely found in floristry.
